4 Fun Ways to Celebrate a Grade School Graduation

4 Fun Ways to Celebrate a Grade School Graduation

Who said that graduation parties are only for the big kids? Grade schoolers who are moving onto middle school (or just up to their next grade) deserve to be celebrated for their accomplishments in education just like their older peers. If you have a little one “graduating” to the next grade, consider using one of our favorite grade school graduation ideas!

  • Organize a class picnic. Picnics are an affordable and fun party idea for children of all grade levels. If your child has talked about missing his or her old class, consider working together with other parents to organize a class picnic to celebrate the end of the school year—and the beginning of a warm summer.
  • Host a themed sleepover. If your child isn’t up for a major party, consider hosting a more intimate gathering at home with a few of their closest friends. Create a sleepover theme that fits your child’s hobbies and interests. For example, you may want to take an athletic child and his or her friends to your local trampoline park, and kids art parties in Mchenry County are always a hit with kids who love to draw and paint. Allow your child to be involved with the planning process—after all, you are celebrating them!
  • Take a tour of your child’s new school. Some children may be apprehensive, overwhelmed, or even downright scared at the idea of starting a new school. Consider working with your child’s new teacher and arranging a day to come in and take a walk around your little one’s new school during the summer. Remember to also email your child’s new principal before you choose a day to come in.
  • Make school supply shopping an event. Introverted or especially shy children might be embarrassed at the idea of hosting a party or meeting new teachers. If this is the case with your child, plan a special day just for him or her with only the two of you. You may want to consider going on a “school supply” shopping spree for new clothing and stationary, or you may just want to head out for an ice cream treat. No matter what you decide to do, remember to tell your child how proud you are of him or her.
